The Technology Transfer Centre Haßfurt (TTZ-HAS)
The Technology Transfer Centre Haßfurt (TTZ-HAS for short) is an institute of the Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt that focuses on applied research in the field of plastic pipe extrusion. The Haßfurt location offers the ideal conditions for this thanks to the large number of well-known manufacturers in the pipe industry that are based in the Haßberge region. The aim is to enable technology transfer and retain skilled workers in the region through close networking between industry and science. The following research priorities are planned at TTZ-HAS:
- ‘Intelligent pipe systems’: Integration of functional features and sensor technology in pipe systems (‘smart polymer pipe solutions’)
- Process development: Inline measurement technology and Industry 4.0
- Sustainability: Use of recycled materials in pipe systems and recyclability of multilayer pipes
- ‘Quality’: Compounding, material development and increasing the service life of pipes
